Merry Christmas

This little guy was made for me by my buddy Gil. It's a foot soldier who made it home a bit beaten up from serving a 4th tour.

BUTTONS!

We just received our first batch of 3 T.O.W. buttons from www.PunkIt.com!
There is the "I survived 3 Tours" button and the "I didnt make it" head-shot button.
If you would like to receive one (random) promotional button from us, please send us a self addressed stamped envelope to:

Brave 3 Tour Cadets @
P.O. Box 264
Gilroy, CA 95021

OR, if you would like to receive both for free, send us a drawing of yourself as a soldier doing something cool like chucking a grenade, riding in a tank, eating a ration, anything you can think of (that's not to graphic) and we will send you both buttons for free* :-D

*no self addressed stamped envelope needed; we will drop postage for you!*

But don't forget to write clearly so we can see your address correctly. Any drawings we receive may be subject to being posted on this blogger if deemed creative and tasteful by our secretary silkykay.

P.S. There will be more batches of different buttons made when these are all gone!

3 T.O.W. Collage

Been a while...and not much to post. Things have still been pretty slow here @ the workshop; all I have to report is, I have ordered a small batch of promo pins. I will post a pic of them as soon as they come in.
Also, my friend gil has told me he is considering entering a board game he is calling "Bomb Squad" into next years KublaCon Contest :-)

Driving on the Bed :-)

Don't blink or you might miss the 2 second stop motion movie that I made with an app on my iPad. This is Jonas Danger from my new project " Pocket Racers."

I have ordered a tripod which will hopefully be in next week and I can make a steadier looking video :-D

Edit: For some reason, a second was cut out of the video. The little car is supposed to drive out of view.....weird.

4 Dice Boards

I finally got around to ironing my dice boards made out of perler beads. I changed the look of the 8-bit characters and like the way they came out :-)

Creating a Portfolio

KublaCon has come and gone, and I had a great time :-)
Tho we did not win, we walked away with nice compliments and good reviews to better our game, "3 Tours of War".
There are a few rules that we plan to retouch-up, and then try our luck @ submitting the game to a publisher to license.

Me and Gil are currently in the slow process of creating an eye-catching game portfolio. I personally am currently juggling my work, my hobby, and my recent engagement to my lovely fiance Stace-Kay :-)

So, my part as amateur board game designer has slowed down, but I am still slowly working on expansions for 3 T.O.W., finishing Peg-O Brawlers, and starting a racing game I am calling Pocket Racers.

I have also recently been playing a lot with my perler beads, and I am considering making this:

This image was made using Excel and it is a Mini travel size edition of 3 T.O.W.
It is also the first expansion titled "Veterans" and has a dessert theme to it.
I have been working on this during my spare time and it will be made completely out of perler beads including the game pieces (but not the dice or cards :-P). I am really trying to keep it a travel size edition as the board is easily collapsible into 9 squares; and much smaller than the canvas board I used for the first one. But I am having trouble coming up with a good small icon I can make out of perler beads to represent the players. I am currently considering helmets, dog tags, or weaponry of choice standing upright. If you have any suggestions feel free to drop me a comment :-)

Pocket Brawlers - 1st Draft

I am working on a tabletop fighting game that consist of no more than 4-6 pieces per player on a battlefield that won't be bigger than a chess board. This first draft is sort of the "vanilla" version of how the codex (or rules) will play out. Here are stats for the 2 teams (protagonist / antagonist); I have been waiting for a while to use these Peg-O pieces :-D

This is Justice Hall vs The Mighty Glaxxos!!....and his minions :-)
Here is the first draft of rules for the combatents:

More LEGO Dice!!! :-D

I received my two eBay purchases today that consist of:
1.) 4 blank lego dice and
2.) 25 assorted faceplates.
This is a main component to the next game I have in mind called "Pocket Brawlers" (or maybe Peg-O Brawlers) and I got all of this for about $12 on ebay (that's including S&H) :-)

En Route!

I shipped out our package this morning to its first stop (Seattle WA), where it will be received and looked over by the lady (Julie Haehn) in charge of the amateur board game design contest :-) I shipped it priority and it should get there by Thursday the 12th.

With a deadline of May 15th we cut it pretty close, but I am glad that we made our deadline and hopefully our board game receives good feedback :-D

I am looking forward to KublaCon just 18 days away!

KublaCon is on memorial day weekend in S.F. May Friday 27th - Monday 30th 2011 at:

INFERIOR POD!

I received my cards from Superior Pod a few days ago and was very disappointed with the quality of the cards :-(

I got out a camera upon opening my package thinking I was going to take the final pictures of these great looking cards, and what I got was the exact opposite. All of the colors were way too dark!
The red backside were almost black, as was the green front side; several times darker than it should have been.

The cards were not cut properly and the images looked terrible :-(
I was really hoping to send in my amateur board game with amazing looking cards from the supposedly best card printer out there. But it looks like I will have to make my own copies and place them in card sleeves because I am really bummed that we spent so much hard work into making them and having Superior Pod deliver us this crap!

I emailed them with photo's and there response was, that it was our fault, "perhaps my monitor settings were off and that is why there is such a huge color difference". They also said that, "I did not place the cards on the template correctly and that is why they were not cut appropriately".
But we used there templates TO THE KEY!, and I have printed these cards on regular paper and got color results I wanted....it just doesn't make sense.
Oh well....I guess INFERIOR POD just doesn't care about the little guys placing a single order :-(
I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone.

The package was delivered 3 days after being printed, that was good.

The front face card is already off color and the green cammo on the face card looks black :-(

The back of the card is supposed to have red cammo and it is also black :-(

They are all over exposed!

Some images are so dark that you cant see anything! All the detail has been lost! >:-(

A monkey with a cleaver cut these cards...ok that thought makes me smile a bit too :-)

Here is a sampling of what the cards should look like :-) I will be printing these out tomorrow and shipping my game to KublaCon first thing Friday morning :-D

KublaCon or Bust!

With only 16 days remaining to submit our game to the amateur board game design contest @ kublaCon, we here @ GO Games Lab are waiting with anticipation for our 70 card set that is in transit (mail) from Superior Pod (printers) :-D

Both I and my friend Gil have purchased our tickets and are looking forward to our first year attending this convention and hopefully receiving good feedback of our game :-)

We have worked very hard on our game and hope others enjoy it as much as we have.

Here is a sneak peek of the board game and its components minus the the two 35 card decks that were completed by Superior Pod (custom homemade cards created by us are shown instead):
