Mean Green Maladroit Machine!

I finished painting my "Maladroit Machine" tank last night and I am quite pleased with the results. I added a different shade of green and I really like the way it looks with the troops.

I don't know if I have posted this before but the turret is magnetized and swivels 360". The hatch that opens up the tank where the cards and dice are stored, is also magnetized for easy access.

I didn't take a picture of the other side of the tank, but it has a "U.S.A." symbol instead of the American flag on the escape hatch.

Prototype to Custom Dice

In this article, I wan to show you the difference between the original prototype dice that consisted of a Lego dice with sticker images, and the new custom dice I just received from Gamestation.Net.

For the prototype, I took a Lego dice (that is only sold with Lego board games) with its many fun and colorful interchangeable face plates; and added cut-out images made from a shipping label. This dice was fun to use and I'm sure will come in handy when making another game, but I wanted a more professional looking dice to be sent with the board game when I enter it for submission @ KublaCon 2011.
I drew the images (posted a while back) and had my friend Gil edit, crop and add borders. I am also glad Jason Witten over @ Gamestaion.Net (www.customdice.com) recommended the 25mm d6 because the images look amazing on this giant dice!
Here are more pics of the prototype and custom dice side by side:

P.S. HOPE YOUR HAVING A GREAT BIRTHDAY GIL! :-D

SPECIAL DELIVERY

First and foremost, "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to everybody that reads our little blog :-D
We could sure use new recruits (followers); so if you have any comments or ideas regarding the construction of our games, we would sure like to hear them. Your support motivates us here at Go Games Lab to do our best and finish our games.

I would like to show you an x-mas gift that arrived today in the mail from my girlfriend Stacey. This is a custom 25mm d6 that was made from Gamestation.Net / www.customdice.com.

These jumbo dice are a nice addition to my game, and look much nicer than the Lego dice I have been using with stickers on the side :-P

I would like to recommend Gamestation.Net to any gamer that is looking for a small order on custom dice with quality results. I am always pleased and excited to use the dice they make for me :-D

The only two good rolls :-)

Two bad rolls :-(

Two even worse rolls :-(

GAME KASTLE + TACO BRAVO = :-)

Not much to report from this slow weekend....
I took a trip to SJ on saturday with my girlfriend and ate some Taco Bravo and stopped by Game Kastle. I picked up some red card sleeves for my game, and these little generic pawn pieces that might come in handy, for the next game.

I have to admit when I saw these little guys I thought it would be neat to make a travel size edition of 3 T.O.W. :-D

3 T.O.W. - THUS FAR...

So here are a lot of pics of the game thus far. I don't plan on posting the rules anytime soon because I would like to submit my game for review at a board game convention (possibly KublaCon or Strategicon in 2011). I am even considering submiting my game to Twilight Creations Inc, but I hear they reject a lot of ideas.

I would like to show you what the entire set-up looks like thus far. Please keep in mind that the game is 80% complete and the board still needs some work :-)

THE GAME
Nuff Said! :-)

THE PLAYERS

This game is 2-4 players, and you get to pick between Rusty, Casey, Oats, and The Hammer (Green Team).

DEATH

Along with having to complete your dangerous 3 tours of war, you will end your turn by rolling for Death's movement. You will definitely want to evade this guy :-(

THE 2 DECKS OF CARDS AND CUSTOM D12'S

These are the "Supply Depot" deck (in blue), and the "Open Fire" deck (in white/should be and soon to be red). These are also the custom d12 for combat in my game. Movement is a d8 for players and a d4 for Death (dice not shown).

BOARD ICONS AND GAME TOKENS

There are 5 basic icons that you can land on (7 if you count the starting square and Death's place).

TANK (CONVERTED CARRYING CASE)

This tank holds the 2 decks of cards and dice needed to play the game :-D
*See older post to see the holding area of the tank.*

THE COUNTER

This is supposed to be a super deformed helicopter, but it still needs the tail, guns and propeller. This counter is used at the end of the game.

PILOT JOHN G. SESAME & FIELD MEDIC SILKY-KAY!

If you have read some of my older post you will recognize pilot Sesame, but Silky-Kay is new to the team. She will help heal people of wounds and conditions. (replacement for A.I.D.)

P.O.W. (POINT TOKEN)

The winner of the game isn't the fastest player to complete his or her 3 tours of war; There is also a point system for saving P.O.W.'s and your actions in the game :-)

POINT VALUE

These tokens are randomly placed on the board and are worth 1-3 pts.

DEATH CATCHES UP

One visit from DEATH will not outright kill you, but if you are severely wounded he can end your game!

CASUALTIES OF WAR

Whether by gunfire or encounter by Death, there are tokens for those who fall in battle :-(

EXPANSIONS?

This is Swizzle who happens to be a real person and friend who has helped me shape 3 T.O.W. into what it is :-)
He is the first member of the Gold Team which will be introduced in the first of several expansions planned! :-D

BUTTON IMAGES!?

Yup. I am trying to come up with 5 button images to promote 3 Tours of War. I don't have the button website on hand ( I might edit this post later), but I am allowed 5 images for 50 (1" inch) buttons and as many colors as needed for like $20! It is the best deal I have seen so far :-D
B&W: Final image will be in Color :-)

(Edit 12/21/10) Here is the colored version.

(Edit 9/24/11) Here is the final version going to the printers.....soon :-)

BOARD GAME CONTESTS

I have been recently looking for a possible board game contests to submit my game, "3 Tours Of War." However it is November and most conventions that hold these types of game submissions are all but done for the year.

I have found 3 possible conventions for the upcoming year that I might want to enter:

http://www.gamesconmemphis.com/ --> Oct. 2011
http://www.fallcon.com/ --> Oct --> 2011
http://www.saltcon.com/ --> Feb 2011

Submission fees are all pretty reasonable, but unfortunately none of these conventions are in California which would cost a lot of $$$ to travel to :-(
Being low on funds (due to cut-back hours @ work), is keeping me from being set on attending and submitting my work. I am however keeping my chin up on finding a contest here in California :-)
So if anyone hears anything about a gaming submission contest, please drop us a line and let us know!
